Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to mark the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya by taking a holy dip in Rameswaram. To ensure devotees' safety, restrictions on movement have been announced for the upcoming days.
Scheduled for inauguration on the 22nd of this month, the grand Ayodhya temple for Lord Ram will witness Prime Minister Narendra Modi performing the consecration. He has observed a week-long fast in preparation for the event.
Prime Minister Modi's itinerary includes a visit to Rameswaram on January 20, where he will take a holy dip at Agni Theertham and visit sacred theerthas at the Rameswaram temple. Special pujas to Lord Ramanathaswami will also be conducted.
The Prime Minister will stay overnight at the Ramakrishna Mutt in Rameswaram, taking a holy dip at Dhanushkodi Arichalmunai beach the next morning and offering prayers at the Kothandaramar Temple.
To facilitate the Prime Minister's visit, traffic between Rameswaram and Ramanathapuram will be suspended from 12 noon to 2.30 pm on January 20.
Heavy vehicles will be barred from entering Rameswaram on January 20 and 21, with traffic to Dhanushkodi prohibited from 12 noon on January 20 to the same time the next day. Fishing activities will also be restricted on both days.
Devotees are advised against visiting the Ramanathaswamy temple from 8 am to 6 pm on January 20. Security measures, including the deployment of the Special Protection Force, have been implemented in Rameswaram, the Ramanathaswamy temple, and the Ramakrishna Math ahead of the Prime Minister's visit.
