Ram Temple Consecration: Government Grants Half-Day Leave for Employees on January 22

Government employees are set to enjoy a half-day leave on January 22 to witness the live telecast of the grand consecration ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, as per official sources.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh has confirmed this decision, and a notification from the government has been issued to this effect.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly sought feedback from ministers regarding the preparations for the significant event.

Ministers have been instructed to light lamps in their homes, feed the poor, and celebrate the day akin to Diwali.

Furthermore, they are tasked with organizing trips to Ayodhya for residents of their constituencies after the temple is opened to the public post the January 22 ceremony.

Ministers are expected to oversee preparations and accompany constituents on these trips.

Ayodhya, the town believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ram, is bustling with preparations for the pran pratishta ceremony. Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to attend the grand event, with invitations extended to various public figures, including actors and cricketers.

In contrast, opposition leaders, particularly those aligned with the INDIA bloc, have announced their decision to stay away from the event. The main opposition party, Congress, has criticized the BJP for turning the temple in Ayodhya into a "political project." While expressing respect for sentiments towards Lord Ram, Congress leaders have declared their non-participation in the ceremony.

Other opposition leaders, such as Sharad Pawar and Arvind Kejriwal, have also declared their decision to abstain, citing distinct reasons for their non-participation.

The event is thus set against a backdrop of political divisions and varied perspectives on its significance.
