Humbly, he disclaimed the title of 'Isaignani,' expressing his belief that it wasn't a fitting accolade for him. He went on to draw attention to the considerable time contemporary composers invest in creating a single song, contrasting with his own experiences.
"I am not a master of Carnatic music," Ilaiyaraaja stated. He questioned whether he truly deserved the title of 'Musician' and emphasized that any semblance of pride had long been discarded. Reflecting on his early years, he shared insights into his realization that applause wasn't necessarily directed at his technical skills but rather at the soul-stirring melodies he created.
