On February 5, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was replying to the debate on the motion of thanks to the President's address in the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament.

During his speech, he touched upon various aspects.

"The NDA will win the Lok Sabha elections and form the government for the third time. Then, significant decisions will be made. It will lay the foundation for 1000 years of development," PM Modi said.

Immediately, the opposition parties started listing the failures of the Modi government over the last ten years.

Narendra Modi, who was declared the BJP's prime ministerial candidate in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, is now reminded of the promises he made during the election campaign.

In the 2014 election campaign, he said, "We will provide jobs to 2 crore people every year." It received a great response from the people. Therefore, he won the election and ruled for five years under Modi's leadership.

In the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Opposition had asked what happened to the promise of two crore jobs. Neither Prime Minister Narendra Modi nor the BJP responded to it. To this day, they haven't even discussed it.

Similarly, allegations are still being raised that many promises, including ensuring a minimum support price for agricultural produce, have not been fulfilled.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that his NDA will win more than 400 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Modi also claimed that the BJP would win at least 370 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

"We posed the question to senior journalist Tarasu Shyam, 'Is it possible for the BJP alliance to get so many seats?'"

"The BJP won 303 seats in the 2019 elections. So, if we say that we will win 350 seats in the coming elections, then there is a justification in it. For the BJP, it is likely to win 250 seats," says Tarasu Shyam.

"As far as PM Modi's Lok Sabha speech is concerned, the intention of uniting the opposition parties is implicit," he adds satirically.

"All opposition parties are now victims of the ED. Now, they are trying to arrest Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. If he is arrested, all opposition parties will unite. Even Mamata Banerjee, who is now at loggerheads, will have no choice but to join the opposition," Tarasu Shyam.

Tarasu Shyam also addressed the connection between Prime Minister Narendra Modi's discourse on laying the foundation for 1,000 years of development and the Lok Sabha elections.

“'I have never heard any Prime Minister discuss laying such a foundation. It's impossible. This speech instills a particular fear—that the current anti-democratic activities will persist for another 1000 years. Will the Centre suppress state governments for a millennium? There's apprehension that central intelligence agencies will perpetually target state governments. The Supreme Court itself has condemned the democracy debacle in Chandigarh. It is a blatant violation. Who dares to commit such irregularities knowing they're caught on camera? That's the governor's audacity.

The Governor, being the administrator of Chandigarh, oversees state governance. It's through governors that democracy in states is being compromised. I interpret PM Modi's insinuation as suggesting this trend will endure for 1000 years,” says Tarasu Shyam.

But the BJP sources said that the weakness of the opposition alliance is the biggest strength for us, and the opening of the Ram temple in Ayodhya will give us a significant victory in the northern states. Also, the projects of the last 10 years will benefit us. So, as the Prime Minister said, we will win 370 seats."
