'Jawan' was a big hit and a commercial come back for Shah Rukh Khan. But Aamir Khan's 'Laal Singh Chaddha' did not do as well as expected, inspite of being adapted from a successful Hollywood movie called Forrest Gump.
In 2015, Aamir Khan spoke in an interview about the rising tide of religious intolerance in India, saying he understood why his wife would want to leave country, "She fears for her child. She fears about what the atmosphere around us will be", this comment received a lot of backlash and many people decided to boycott his movie and that acted as one of the main reason for the failure of the movie.
In a recent interview, Aamir Khan's ex-wife Kiran Rao said, "I am very sad that all the efforts made for Laal Singh Chaddha during the making and during the promotions turned futile. It definitely affected Aamir Khan's mind deeply."
Kiran Rao also expressed her minor discomfort in being addressed as Aamir Khan's ex wife in many interviews even after the divorce. She said, "In many interviews, I am introduced as Aamir Khan's ex-wife. They don't remember my name. It doesn't bother me much, for I am used to hearing it."
"However, everyone should have an individual identity.Even I wish to have that. Individual identity is not a necessity for single people alone, even married couples need individualism.Married couples should give space to each other and having an individual identity is paramount."
