Ather Energy, an electric two-wheeler manufacturers, has installed 400+ Ather Grid fast charging points in Maharashtra. When combined with chargers built on the LECCS standard, the total number of fast charging points in the state has now gone beyond 660 units.

These charging points are strategically spread across 35 cities, including Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Kolhapur, Satara, and Sangli. Key intercity routes like Mumbai–Pune, Pune–Satara, Satara–Kolhapur, Sangli–Kolhapur, and Pune–Panshet are now well-connected for EV riders.

Tackling Range Anxiety

One of the biggest concerns for anyone thinking about switching to EVs is Range Anxiety: “Where will I charge my scooter if I run out of power?” Ather has been focusing on solving this concern by expanding its charging network. For EV owners, this is a big step toward reducing range anxiety.

All Ather Grid chargers are listed on Google Maps, allowing not just Ather owners but any EV rider with a LECCS connector to find and use them.

The LECCS (Light Electric Combined Charging System) standard, developed by Ather, has been adopted by other manufacturers too, helping to create a common charging ecosystem. In Maharashtra alone, there are already 220 LECCS-compatible chargers.

Commenting on this milestone, Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, said:

“Maharashtra has always been an important market for us. As more people switch to electric, a strong charging network is key to building confidence. Crossing 400 fast chargers in the state reflects our commitment to making EV ownership worry-free.”

What About Tamil Nadu?

While Ather’s rapid expansion in Maharashtra is impressive, it naturally raises the question: “When will Tamil Nadu see this kind of charging network growth?”

Cities like Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy, and Salem are already seeing rising EV adoption, but a dense and accessible fast-charging network like Maharashtra’s could further boost confidence among potential buyers.

Ather Energy currently has 3,300+ fast charging points across India, with its chargers offering 15 km of range for every 10 minutes of charging. Partnerships with companies like HPCL and EV Dock have also helped accelerate the rollout of chargers in several states.

So, will Tamil Nadu be the next state to get 400+ Ather fast chargers? It’s a question that EV enthusiasts here are already asking.
