The US presidential election, held every four years, is anticipated in 2024 following the 2020 election cycle. The two major political parties, Democrats and Republicans, dominate the American political landscape. President Joe Biden's term is set to conclude this year, leading to the upcoming presidential election in November.
Democratic nominee Joe Biden, aged 81, and Republican nominee Donald Trump, aged 77, are the prominent contenders.
Additionally, figures such as former South Carolina governor and ex-US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, aged 52, US Congressman Dean Phillips, aged 55, and independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., aged 70, are also vying for the presidential nomination.
The former UN ambassador stressed the need for a candidate who can put in eight years of hard work by "not making it about themselves, but making it about the American people".
"That's what I am trying to do. A party that gets rid of an 80-year-old candidate is the party that will win. There will be a female president of the US. It will be either me or Kamala Harris", she said
"I don't want Trump and Biden to be president," presidential candidate Nikki Haley told a private news agency.
I have no qualms in contesting against them. The only reason I am contesting this election is that these two should not win again. That's because 70 percent of Americans don't want to see Trump and Biden as president again.
She stated, 59 percent of Americans think Biden and Trump are old. A candidate should highlight services to the people rather than promoting himself. That's what I'm trying to do. I believe that either me or Vice President Kamala Harris of the United States, one of us, will be the first woman president of the United States."
