From MBA to Agriculture Success: Maruti Mardi's Inspiring Journey into Goat Rearing

In the picturesque village of Kalloli in Mudalaki taluka, Belagavi district, Karnataka, Maruti Mardi Maurya's journey from an MBA graduate to a successful goat farmer unfolds. Initiated into farming by his grandfather in 2016, Maruti discovered his passion for agriculture.

In 2018, with guidance from the Government Animal Husbandry Department, Maruti invested Rs 7.5 lakh to construct a spacious shed for his goats. What began with 11 goats has flourished into a thriving enterprise of over 300, including rare breeds like Darfur and Deccani. His commitment and knowledge have earned him an annual income of Rs. 30 lakhs through goat rearing.

Beyond goat farming, Maruti cultivates sugarcane, jowar, and groundnut on his five-acre land, embracing natural and sustainable practices. The synergy of harvest yield and carefully curated fodder ensures the robust growth of his flock.

C.K. Ashok Kumar, who hails from Tamil Nadu and is the president of the Vetiver Association of India, which gives the award to Maruti.

Maruti's success extends beyond his personal gains. As the chairman of RAYANNA SHEEP AND GOAT FARMERS PRODUCER COMPANY LIMITED, he actively imparts valuable advice to aspiring goat farmers. His straightforward lifestyle has endeared him to the masses, earning him recognition, including the prestigious National Millionaire Farmers of India Award 2023.
