Slick action sequences light up "Joshua," but a predictable plot & weak characters hold it back. Fans of Menon's style might enjoy.

Love in the Crosshairs:

"Joshua - Imai Pol Kaaka" attempts to weave a narrative around Kundavi, a lawyer, and Joshua, a hired killer, whose love story is thrown into disarray when his dark secret comes to light. Years later, fate brings them together once again as Kundavi, now fighting a powerful criminal, faces assassination attempts. Joshua, now a security guard, receives the assignment to protect her.

Action Shines, Performances Falter:

The film showcases stylish action sequences, effectively captured by SR Kathir's sharp cinematography. However, the screenplay relies heavily on clichés and predictable plot points, failing to offer anything fresh or engaging. While Varun exhibits convincing action skills, his performance lacks emotional depth, particularly in romantic scenes. Despite having the potential for complexity, supporting characters fail to leave a lasting impression due to underdeveloped roles.

Editing and Music: A Mixed Bag:

Antony's editing choices could have been more impactful. Instead of relying on numerous small cuts, a tighter approach emphasising the emotional content within the action sequences could have elevated the film's overall experience. The music provides a mixed bag. While some songs are forgettable, the background score, though effective in certain action scenes, occasionally feels disjointed from the visuals.

Clichéd Action Overpowers the Narrative:

Despite its attempt to explore the conflict between love and duty, "Joshua - Imai Pol Kaaka" ultimately falters due to its weak script. The narrative relies on overused clichés and predictable plot points, failing to deliver Gautham Vasudev Menon's signature elements of romantic dialogues, emotionally charged love scenes, and thrilling action sequences. The excessive focus on action, often featuring illogical logic and the missing police involvement, detracts from the narrative's potential.

A Forgettable Experience:

"Joshua - Imai Pol Kaaka" offers glimpses of promise in its action choreography and some technical aspects like cinematography. However, the film ultimately falls short due to a weak script, inconsistent performances, and an over-reliance on action clichés. It fails to deliver a compelling cinematic experience, leaving the audience with a forgettable encounter.
