Bigg Boss fame Poonam Pandey's official Instagram handle announced her death on February 2 due to cervical cancer through a post. Poonam Pandey's manager also confirmed the same.

The next day, Poonam Pandey released a video saying that she was not dead but faked it to raise awareness among women about cervical cancer.

Defamation Case

This drew pungent criticisms from various sides. A defamation case has been filed against Poonam Pandey in Kanpur. Faizan Ansari has filed a defamation suit for Rs. 100 crores against Poonam Pandey and her husband to the Kanpur Police Commissioner.

Case Against Poonam's Stunt

An FIR has been registered against the duo. In his complaint, Ansari has sought that arrest warrants should be issued against the two and they should be produced in front of the Kanpur court. According to the FIR, Poonam Pandey and her husband Sam Bombay conspired to cause a fake death.

"Poonam has pulled such an insensitive stunt like this for her own publicity. Poonam Pandey has misused the trust of crores of people and the entire Bollywood."

This has created a new problem for Poonam Pandey. After the fake death drama, Poonam Pandey had said that she wanted to be a brand ambassador for awareness about cervical cancer. But the central government has announced that it has no plans to appoint her as the brand ambassador.
